Many great kid “cooking” projects don’t involve a stove or a burner. Consider how much kitchen time goes into chopping, slicing, and peeling—not to mention the less tangible but crucial task we could summarize as “thinking of tasty stuff to do.”
That brings us to carrot ribbons, an instant salad upgrade that teaches small-stature chefs how to turn every rabbit’s favorite root vegetable into colorful curls. As our latest You Did It! video collab with Tillamook shows, the technique is easy (and safe). But the inspiration is the real lesson. Here’s how you do it:
1. You’ll need 1-2 large carrots and a kid-safe vegetable peeler.
2. Peel the carrot length-wise, from top to bottom, making long, thin ribbons.
3. Curl the ribbons up and put them on a salad, or eat them as-is.
